Po' Girl $13.98 Po'Girl was formed in 2000 by Trish Klein, one of the founding members of alt-folk sensation the Be Good Tanyas, and Allison Russell of Vancouver-based Celtic group Fear Of Drinking. Trish Klein, on hiatus from the Be Good Tanyas, sings and plays banjo, guitar, harmonica, and mandolin-all with a natural ease and distinctive style, drawing on influences as diverse as Mississippi John Hurt, Rickie Lee Jones, and Joan Armatrading. Montreal-born Allison Russell is an impassioned performer and musician. She has been described as a mighty combination of Tracy Chapman and Natalie Merchant, with a rich, deep, powerful voice that is the perfect complement to Trish's. While growing from the same roots as the Be Good Tanyas and retaining similarities, Po'Girl has its own distinctive identity as a group, which comes through on the CD.
